The oddsmakers in Vegas have updated their Heisman Trophy odds following Week 1 of the college football season and two Buckeyes appeared on the list.
In BetOnline’s latest Heisman odds, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and running back J.K. Dobbins were both listed.
Fields was listed as tied with the fourth-best odds to win college football’s coveted award at 12/1 odds after having a record-setting performance against Florida Atlantic in Week 1 by accounting for five touchdowns, tying Dwayne Haskins’ record for the most touchdowns by a first-time starting quarterback in Ohio State history.
Dobbins was also listed at 40/1 odds to win the Heisman after not being listed on the odds sheet before the weekend. Dobbins posted 105 total yards and a touchdown in his Week 1 performance against the Owls.
A former Buckeye was also listed in the latest Heisman odds as LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was given 28/1 odds to win the award following his record-setting performance this past weekend. Burrow threw for a school record five touchdowns in LSU’s season opener against Georgia Southern, all five touchdowns coming in the first half of the game.
