COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was a dogfight for a majority of the game, but in the end, No. 23 Ohio State ran away with a 68-50 victory over previously undefeated Samford.
Samford gave everything they had against Ohio State as they jumped out to an 8-2 lead over the Buckeyes in the opening few minutes of the game.
Ohio State came storming back though as they took their first lead of the game with 10:17 left in the first half with a score of 16-15.
The two teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the half, but Samford would take a slight 32-29 lead over Ohio State at halftime.
Samford would score a there-pointer in the first minute out of the half, but Ohio State came roaring after that as the Buckeyes went on a 23-5 run over the next eleven minutes to take a 52-40 lead with less than eight minutes left in the game.
Samford would try to claw back but the closest they would cut the Buckeye lead to was eight as Ohio State then easily ran away with the victory in the final minutes by a score of 68-50.
Graduate transfer Keyshawn Woods had an impressive performance in the victory as he recorded 14 points on 5-8 shooting while grabbing four rebounds and dishing four assists.
Sophomore forward Kaleb Wesson was the rock of this team yet again as he led the Buckeyes in scoring with 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds and recording two steals.
Ohio State combined to shoot 44 perfect from the floor in the victory while holding Samford to just 37 percent shooting.
The Buckeyes struggled to hit their threes tonight as they were only 3-20 from long range against the Bulldogs.
Ohio State improved in their rebounding on Tuesday night as they out-rebounded Samford 39-32 in the 68-50 victory.
With the win, Ohio State remains undefeated as they move to 5-0 on the season.
The Buckeyes will stay in Columbus for their next game on Friday night against Cleveland State, but they will be playing in the historic venue of St. John Arena and wearing throwback jerseys for the game the night before the Ohio State/Michigan football game.
Tip-off on Friday night between Ohio State and Cleveland State is set for 8:00pm ET.
